Penelope (21 months) loved her afternoon at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach! She was transfixed – tank after tank – by the different colors, shapes and sizes of fish, the graceful jellyfish, huge spider crabs, etc. Greg and I were a bit surprised by how closely she would study everything, even pointing out and matching certain fish to their placards at times.

The sea lions and playful otters were perhaps her favorites…and the little charmer even managed to elicit a few waves from a diver in a tank giving a presentation. Time will tell if she remembers that the life-size replica “big fishie” suspended from the ceiling is actually called a “whale.”
